Who we are
Crevion Systems is a design and development studio based in Ontario, Canada, working with clients worldwide. This policy explains what personal information we collect through crevionsystems.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Crevion Systems is the organization accountable for the information described here. Questions go to hello@crevionsystems.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you send an enquiry through a form on this site, or email us directly, we receive whatever you choose to include — typically your name, email address, company or project name, and the content of your message. We ask only for what we need to answer you and to scope a possible engagement. Please don't send us confidential or sensitive material in a first message.
Information collected automatically
Our web host records standard server logs for every request. These typically contain:
- your IP address;
- the date and time of the request;
- the page or file requested and the response status;
- your browser type, version and operating system (the "user agent");
- the referring page, where your browser sends one.
These logs exist for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults. We don't use them to build a profile of you.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and which devices they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address on our behalf. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not enable Google's advertising or cross-device features.
You can opt out entirely by installing Google's browser opt-out add-on, by blocking cookies as described below, or by using your browser's tracking protection.
Fonts
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those files directly from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and user agent as part of that request. Google states that it does not use Google Fonts requests to profile users or serve advertising.
We do not knowingly collect financial information, government identifiers, health information, or any other sensitive category through this website.
Why we collect it
We use the information above only for these purposes:
- To reply to you. Answering enquiries, preparing quotes and proposals, and arranging calls.
- To deliver work. Where an enquiry becomes a project, to communicate about it and to invoice for it.
- To keep the site working and secure. Diagnosing errors, detecting abusive traffic, and maintaining backups.
- To improve the site. Aggregate analytics that tell us which pages are useful.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations. Retaining records where the law requires it.
We rely on your consent, which you give by submitting a form or emailing us, and which you can withdraw at any time. We do not sell personal information, and we do not add enquirers to a marketing list without asking first.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as it takes to answer you and, where a project follows, for the life of that engagement plus the period our accounting and tax obligations require — generally seven years. Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted within two years.
Server logs are kept for a short retention window set by our host, typically measured in weeks. Google Analytics data is retained on a rolling basis under the retention setting in our account.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to our email, hosting and analytics accounts is limited to the people who need it and protected by strong, unique credentials and two-factor authentication where the provider supports it.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may:
- Ask what we hold. Request access to the personal information we have about you and an account of how it has been used and disclosed.
- Correct it. Ask us to fix information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Withdraw consent. Tell us to stop using your information, subject to legal and contractual limits, and ask us to delete it.
- Complain. Raise a concern with us and expect a substantive answer.
Email hello@crevionsystems.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and in limited cases the law requires or permits us to withhold certain information — if that happens, we'll tell you why.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
This site links to third-party services, including our Freelancer.com profile. Once you follow a link away from crevionsystems.com, this policy no longer applies. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or their handling of your information — read their policies before providing anything.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the studio, the site, or the law changes. The current version is always at crevionsystems.com/privacy-policy, and the effective date at the top tells you when it last changed. Material changes will be flagged on the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
